[Action1 : 921 Bilko Blvd. Waking up is awfully strange, especially when you don't sleep. Aurora Belle sits up in the bed for a few moments, blinking in confusion. Everything around her was solid, as well. Was this some new fancy house in the Afterlife? They certainly never had pajamas before there. Or sleeping people.

Speaking of. Poke poke, sleeping man. There's a lovely new wife for you to wake up to.]

Hello! Hi. Um. I have a lot of questions for you, if you don't mind.

[After that, it's off to explore the house. She'll be gawking at the photos, poking the appliances, and generally touching anything and everything like it is all shiny, new and novel. This will lead to a phone call to everyone! There's a clattering sound as the receiver hits the ground.]

Oh no! Did I break it? What... How do these things work again? [Insert the sound of the receiver being fiddled with.]

[Later, Action 2: Aurora has taken to the streets to explore her surroundings. Despite any warnings she may have been given, she looks like she's having a grand old time. She looks positively giddy as she comes upon the park. She'll be stopping whoever passes by to share her joy with.]

Isn't. This. AMAZING? I had no idea that the sun felt like this! Or that the air smelled like this! [She breathes in and lets out a deep breath.] And that breathing is so easy! You don't even have to think about it or anything! Or blinking, either! Or a lot of things! Hey, do you think I can climb that tree?

[ Ilsa chuckles lightly. ]

Though I usually chose to wear jeans when I decided to climb.

That would be better, but there were no pants that fit me in my closet. I'll have to find some later. The dresses are pretty cute, though.

[ Watching to make sure the young woman is steady, ]

So, you woke up here today?

[She's actually doing quite well despite the clothing handicap.]

Yep! I guess that's really obvious. I guess if I wanna go incognito, I should be walking around with my head hanging. Or so everyone is leading me to believe.

No, that would be one of us on a bad day. A vapid smile with no intelligence behind it is what the drones look like.

Oh right, that too. But everyone keeps telling me I'm far too cheerful for this place. I mean, being like this, I have no reason not to be.

[She hoists herself up onto a branch, and looks out on the park, smiling widely.] Especially on a day like this.

There is that - people who remember another place tend to focus on the need to get back. Most of them. For some, this is a better day than most.

[ Ilsa shrugs. ]

Having every day perfect, except when the nightmares come out, it can get wearing on a body.

Well, I really should get back to where I was. Where I'm from isn't much like Earth at all, but being able to visit it AND interact with it is really cool!

I don't think I can get sick of this. [She takes in a deep breath and lets it out.] But, what "nightmares"? I've heard people talking about bad things that happen, but no one has mentioned anything besides razor blades in milk. So, I just won't drink milk.

Did someone give you the pamphlet? It has most of the worst events chronicled. Just so you're aware, and can enjoy days like this more.

Pamphlet? No, I don't think so. Where do I get it?

I carry extras, and I have a map if you'd like one.

[ Ilsa starts rummaging in her purse. ]

Oh, a map! that would be good, though I'm usually good at finding my way around.

[He goes to get off the branch... and slips off. Too used to floating throw things, and the mistake throws her off balance. She was't too far off, but she lands with a thud.]

A-Ah! I... that... hurts? [She doesn't look hurt, she's just more surprised at the feeling of pain more than anything.]

Careful!

[ Ilsa rushes to check her over, murmuring. She expects to find a few scrapes, depending on how Aurora landed. ]

Getting used to being a human on Earth means taking care. Lots of new residents have to get used to being more fragile than usual.

[Just a few minor ones on her arms, which Aurora looks at with confusion.]

I guess so... Ahahaha, I'm used to being able to just float through everything so naturally... [She stands up now, looking a little embarrassed.]

Not a problem, hon. It takes a lot of us some time to get used to things... and then you get a package that brings a part of yourself back, and it's even odds if you have to get used to being the way you were or not.

[ Ilsa helps Aurora dust herself off. ]

I'm Ilsa Higa, by the way.

So, are you not human either? Or is that a rude thing to ask?

A package? Really? How do they do something like that?

Some people might want to wait a while to say if they're something other, but you just have to take each case as they come. The way some people regain things that they had, or even were, is getting it in the mail.

The mail? What... oh, like a delivery? Wow, that's weird. How do you mail something like that?

[ She shrugs. ] So far, I've received engraved note cards, and then get slammed with a new ability. Physical objects usually just get shipped parcel post, I think.

Hmm. So they can turn me into a ghost again? Oh no, but that means people won't see me anymore!

Some of us might be able. [ Ilsa shrugs ] Don't know if you would be the same as the others I've met. My grandparents said it was hard for them to appear to people who weren't family.

Oh, so you can? That's really rare, you know! A lot of kids can, but they grow out of it, I think.

My grandparents died ten years before I was born, but I grew up with them being a part of the family. Maybe that's why I can see the ones that aren't hiding.

How fascinating! That they stayed on Earth like that for so long... Some ghosts choose that, though, if they're lucky enough to find their loved ones, I think.

There's a few that have been around for longer in the area around my hometown, but some are there because they are guardians, [ she smiles and wrinkles her nose, ] and some stick around just out of sheer meanness.
